International Business Development Manager
New Beacon Group is seeking a proactive International Business Development Manager to ensure the effective development and implementation of our training/educational programmes, partnership building and customer-relationship management. In this role, you will support day-to-day programme related development from planning to delivery, liaising with external agencies and in house teams to ensure support and deliverables for activities are planned in and completed creatively, achieve value for money and are of a high quality. This includes planning and delivering projects such as student recruitment, academic exchange/joint research programmes, study tours (including summer/winter camps). Working closely with senior managers, you will play a key role in fulfilling New Beacon Group’s mission: to create the global university of the future.
You will be able to speak Mandarin and write in Mandarin fluently, as most of your customer base speaks Mandarin as their first language, and you will have a deep understanding of Chinese and British culture in order to ensure that customers have an enriching cultural and educational experience. You will also be educated to degree or postgraduate level (or equivalent) in a management/ business/ marketing subject and speak and write in English to an advanced level. You will have at least three years’ experience in the travel industry: organising tours, cultural and educational visits, orientation and support for groups of Chinese visitors to the UK, ideally specialising in UK education. In addition, you will have a track record of successfully generating income through the development of new business relationships as well as experience of identification of customer needs in relation to provision of bespoke services.
To succeed in this role you will be passionate about bringing new ideas and a creative approach to business development and operations. Additionally, you will have good all-round knowledge of business development practices, as well as an extremely organised and composed approach with the ability to multitask a number of different priorities and projects at the same time. You will also be confident and self-motivated with the drive and determination to succeed, have strong cross-cultural communication skills, be able to use your initiative and committed to the delivery of excellent customer service, with the ability to adapt your approach as the situation demands. There will be some overseas travel to China; a flexible approach to working patterns is therefore required.
