The New Beacon Group has announced a new partnership with Staffordshire University, the highest climbing university now ranked in the top ten nationally for student satisfaction in The Complete University Guide published this month.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by New Beacon’s President, Professor Richard Li-Hua, and the Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, Professor Liz Barnes, at NBG’s Stafford campus on 22nd May 2019 to coincide with the launch of the Beacon Business School.
Building on Staffordshire University’s academic footprint at the former Beaconside site, both institutions will collaborate to develop and deliver a wide range of business, management and innovation related programmes in the first instance, then extending to other academic areas on New Beacon’s beautiful 50-acre campus located at the renamed Stafford Education and Enterprise Park.
New Beacon’s Professor Li-Hua said “that by working together as two well-connected neighbouring partners we can combine our respective strengths to deepen a collaboration which was historically forged in the Beaconside soil. This strategic alliance will enable us to quickly establish an international reputation centred around East and West management theories and practices which will contribute to our academic capacity building and global visibility”.
NBG’s mission is to establish itself as a leading, future-facing alternative provider of higher education and the signing of this agreement demonstrates a shared commitment to providing education and training opportunities aimed at raising aspirations, promoting greater student mobility, and supporting social, cultural and economic development.
Expressing her delight at “how quickly the higher education legacy is being taken forward at NBG”, and how she was looking forward “to exploring the global opportunities this collaboration could bring”, Professor Liz Barnes commented: “This is a great opportunity for the New Beacon Group and Staffordshire University to work together, following the University’s established model of partnership arrangements with institutions across the world”.
The Dean of the Beacon Business School, Professor James O’Kane said “the collaboration with our partner Staffordshire University will enable NBG to not only grow as an institution, but will enable us to broaden the academic offer on campus with the support from a very successful and established University such as Staffordshire”.
Following the signing ceremony, Professor Li-Hua invited our new partner and other colleagues to join guests at the launch of the Beacon Business School, the first of a number of new academic schools for New Beacon Group as a springboard to building a vibrant learning community which actively embraces entrepreneurial and innovative approaches in teaching designed to give every student a unique Beacon experience.
The partnership with Staffordshire University is another key milestone in NBG’s journey to become a fully-fledged university with its own degree-awarding powers.
