Beacon Sport and Fitness celebrated their first anniversary this weekend (29th July) with a family fun day, including guests from Big Bounce, Sporting Fit Ltd, Little Kickers, Katharine House Hospice and AEDdonate. The community gym, located on Weston Road, invited Big Bounce to host their inflatables at the centre, including bouncy castles, inflatable slides, assault courses and swings.
The wet weather didn’t deter the fun, with inflatable fun provided by Big Bounce in the Sports Hall and a penalty shootout for aspiring strikers provided by Sporting Fit. The event was a hit with locals looking for something fun to do with the family.
Fitness Centre Manager, Phil Buckingham, said: ‘It’s been really great to see so many people coming through the centre and seeing what we have to offer. We love to have the opportunity to show off our new facilities and champion our local charities at the same time.’
New Beacon Group (NBG) refurbished and reopened the local gym last summer after its protested closure in 2016. Reopening the centre was a priority for NBG when they purchased the former Staffordshire University Campus nearly two years ago.
CEO of New Beacon Group, Dr. Kai Liu, said: ‘Since purchasing the campus in 2016 we have received a warm welcome to Stafford from local leaders and businesses, as well as the Staffordshire County Council and Stafford Borough Council. We have always aimed to be a community-focused company, and the reopening and development of the gym has certainly allowed us to engage with the community on a wider scale.’
Beacon Sport & Fitness will be running a special birthday membership offer until 28th August 2018. Please get in touch at www.beaconsport.co.uk or call on 01785 472665 for more information.
