New Beacon Group and NACUE sign MoU to create national Launch Pad for aspiring entrepreneurs in Stafford.
New Beacon Group (NBG) and The National Association of College & University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a national student and graduate entrepreneur’s hub – NACUE LaunchPad. The signing took place on Saturday 17th February 2018 at Aston University, Birmingham, during the largest Student Enterprise Conference in Europe. New Beacon Group is proud to be the headline sponsor of NACUE’s 2018 Student Enterprise Conference and the two organisations plan to work together on a series of initiatives to boost student entrepreneurship at regional and national level.
Dr Kai Liu, Chief Executive Officer of New Beacon Group, and Ms Holly Knower, Chief Executive Officer of NACUE, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to acknowledge the beginning of their strategic partnership and establish the NACUE Launch Pad at Beaconwood Park, Stafford. The signing was witnessed by the executive team of NBG, NACUE and the trustees of NACUE – Mr Tim Barnes, Ms Louise Donaghy.
The two-day conference saw a range of distinguished speakers and experts, including Vice-Chancellor of Aston University – Professor Alec Cameron, social media entrepreneur and TED talk speaker – Jodie Cook and social entrepreneur Melody Hossani, share their views on critical issues related to students and graduate start-ups.
Professor Mark Mabey, Deputy CEO and Director of Higher Education, presented a keynote speech on what our Launch Pad can offer to the next generation of aspiring entrepreneurs and why Beaconwood Park’s location, connectivity, and facilities mean entrepreneurs can get a head-start at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey.
Dr Kai Liu, Chief Executive Officer of NBG, also participated in a panel to share his views on “Incubator vs Accelerator vs Mentoring: what’s the difference?”
Dr Kai Liu said of student start-ups, ‘Students and graduates are vibrant sources of the entrepreneurial economy. The early support of those ventures is key for student start-ups to survive and prosper. NBG and NACUE will team up to provide a best possible environment for student entrepreneurs nationally and with NBG’s strong international links, we will also aim to help UK start-ups to scale up quickly in a vital international market like China.’
